Scone saleyards
Work on the Scone Regional Livestock Selling Centre commenced in June 2018 following several months planning the 7 Stages of the re-development and manufacturing equipment. Many subcontractors were engaged by Thompson Longhorn for the installation of not only the equipment and yards, but also the civil works required.

The project was completed in October 2019, with this saleyard re-development being our biggest project for a single client to date. We can proudly say we achieved the build on time and to budget, whilst having the facility fully functional as regular sales continued throughout the project. Our on-site project manager oversaw the re-development from start to finish, liaising with the team from Upper Hunter Shire Council and co-ordinating sub-contractors.

Health and safety of the yard operators, vendors and buyers was important during this build as the logistics of maintaining full functionality of some areas meant creating short term solutions before the permanent yards were in place. This was completed with minimal impact on the livestock within the yards, occasionally construction was paused and relocated to different areas during sale days. It also meant temporary watering systems were set up between the demolition of old sections and the installation of new lines. Key infrastructure, such as the double deck loading ramps, were installed in the early stages of the re-development.
